EPOCH Missional Church Strategy Training May 15
Wondering how to grow a church in Mobile County? This training
is for you. EPOCH is igniting passion in pastors to help every
follower of Jesus Christ to live as local missionaries along the
Gulf Coast. Mobile County and the Gulf Coast have changed.
There are new businesses, multiple religions, over 42 language
culture groups, anti-Christian bias, urbanization, and over
200,000 lost people in Mobile County. “The world as you know it
no longer exists. The world you will know is unlike anything
you’ve ever seen” (Eric Miller, The 189 Most Important Trends of
the 1990’s). What should our response be? We must learn to
live as missionaries. What is the heart of EPOCH? It is a
process. Better yet, it is a lifestyle directed by the Spirit
and marked by a passion to make disciples and gather them
together for His worship and glory. It is everyday followers of
Jesus living as missionaries in their communities. For more
information and to register, please contact State Missionary
Otis Corbitt in the Office of Associational Missions and Church
Planting at 1-800-264-1225, ext. 332,

Welcome Missionaries in
Residence Gerald and Brenda Burch
We are thrilled the Lord has brought Gerald and Brenda Burch from Japan to be
our first MBA Missionaries in Residence (MIR). He will help provide leadership
of our Partnership Missions emphases. Please provide him opportunities to speak
or promote our MBA Partnership Missions. Church members who want more
information about serving with the International Mission Board or North American
Mission Board in long term and short term missions options will benefit from
visiting with them. Gerald also will be helping Doug with language church
starting. You may contact Gerald via e-mail
burch.gerald@gmail.com, or phone at the MBA
office, 661-7111.
International Ministries Center Growth
Allows More Opportunities to Serve
The IMC needs additional host churches to
participate in foreign missions at home. Your group can pick one evening a
month to bring food, drinks, and devotions for the Seafarers. You will have
many opportunities to share the Gospel and make lifelong friends with the
Seafarers. Please present this local missions need to your Sunday School class,
Missions Committee, or Small Group. Our growth presents the need to add Mondays
to the current three day schedule listed below. Your students also can come any
night to play volleyball and basketball with the Seafarers. Please contact Doug
Beck at 433 – 7953, or
imc@mobilebaptists.org.
We also are blessed to have volunteers from
MBA churches who serve as drivers and Missionary Evangelists to the Seafarers.
Jerry Betts from Sage Avenue, Dan Brown from Fulton Road, and Bill Wood from
Moffett Road serve weekly as drivers for the Seafarers. We could not function
effectively without their faithful service. We need additional van drivers once
a week or once a month to pick up the Seafarers in the port, bring them to the
IMC, and take them shopping.

Christmas Celebration Summary

MSC Missionary, Harold Reagan, and Sonnie
Beck distribute gifts to some International children

The East African choir sang for our Seafarers
and other Internationals
We had a wonderful International
Christmas Celebration on December 1. More than 150 Internationals,
seafarers, and MBA church members filled the International Ministries Center
with joyous praise, and multicultural fellowship. More than more than
14 language and culture groups were represented. Dr. Mack Morris shared the
Christmas message from the Scripture and 5 Internationals prayed to receive
Christ as Lord and Savior. The children and seafarers received gift bags
donated by churches in the MBA and our wonderful WMU. Food from almost
every continent was delivered by MBA church members and (almost)
J
everyone enjoyed the flavors and textures of food from around the world.
The choir from the International Baptist Church sang as well as a group of
East African brothers and sisters that will soon have a Bible study and
worship in the MBA. Many thanks to everyone who helped ensure a
successful Christmas Celebration!
Please contact
Doug Beck, imc@mobilebaptists.org, to schedule
a time for your youth, senior adults, or other local ministry/missions teams to
visit, work, or serve in the International Ministries Center. We are looking for volunteer
drivers, volunteer English teachers, and volunteers and donations to paint the
exterior of the building in addition to other needs.
