The International Language School (ILS)
opened in 1981 as an MBA ministry. The ILS is available to non-English speaking
students. Each student is evaluated and placed according to their level of
ability. A trained volunteer teacher helps the students learn English and about
the love of Jesus.
In 2005, we began to offer survival language
classes to provide skills in other languages. Presently Spanish is taught each week.
The school year runs from September through May. Last year we had over 150
students from 59 countries. Jesus became real to 8 students last year as they
came to know Him in a personal way.
Our area churches are welcome to
visit any of the 5 locations:
Tillman's Corner First Baptist Church,
Dauphin Way Baptist
Church,
Government Street
Baptist Church,
Spring Hill Baptist
Church, and
Wilmer First Baptist Church.
The ILS
strategy to encourage more involvement by the members of the host churches. The
ILS staff are working to have site leaders from the host churches to better
inform members and invite students to Sunday School and the services at the
church.
