3 Ways to Share Jesus in Cyberspace
C. Thomas Wright, Ph.D.
Linda logged on to several church web pages to try and "find out how to know God." She learned about staff and ministries but "they didn’t tell me how to meet Jesus." After continued searching she found a site that "introduced me to Jesus. I knew I was a sinner, I wanted to know how to be forgiven." Then she wrote," I think that churches ought to tell lost people how to be found."
This is quite a statement when the world we live in has tried to convince Christians that no one is interested in the message of Christ. Linda is typical of lost people who want to find the truth. In John 14:6 Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (NKJV).
There are at least 3 ways that every online Christian can share Christ with the 606.6 million people who are online worldwide.
The first way share Jesus on the Internet is through a web page. The best web pages have three parts: 1. Information, 2. Communication, and 3. Evangelistic resources. Every believer with a web page can provide a link to an interactive presentation of the gospel. Two excellent evangelistic sites are:
www.thegoodnews.org, and
www.whoisjesus.com. You also can link to the Jesus film in dozens of languages at
www.jesusfilm.org.
Second, join a chat room. There are hundreds of chat rooms based on every interest, hobby, and religion. Pick one, join and visit. Watch for Divine Encounters. Consider going online in pairs and talk to each other about Jesus. Visit
www.community.christianitytoday.com for a good place to start.
Third, create or join a Blog. The "blogosphere" includes more than 8 million people that create or read these online news diaries or journals. Visit
www.blogpulse.com and find opportunities to share the Christian perspective.
Use your gifts and interests to invade the Internet with the truth of Jesus.
